The objective of FRUITBREEDOMICS is to improve the efficiency of fruit breeding by bridging the gap between scientific genetics research and application in breeding. The consortium is composed of 24 partners: 18 research institutes and 6 private companies, from Europe, Israel, South Africa, New Zealand and China.
The partners in the project aim to develop molecular and bioinformatics breeding tools to improve selection efficiency and superior pre-breeding material to meet grower and consumer demands for healthy cultivars of high quality.
The kick-off meeting of the project was held in Angers from 29th to 31st of March 2011.
